Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office (LOSCO), 1999, Louisiana Rivers and Streams from ESRI/GDT source data, Geographic NAD83, LOSCO (1999) [streams].
This is a vector data set. It contains the following vector data types (SDTS terminology):
Horizontal positions are specified in geographic coordinates, that is, latitude and longitude. Latitudes are given to the nearest 0.00001. Longitudes are given to the nearest 0.00001. Latitude and longitude values are specified in Decimal degrees.
The horizontal datum used is North American Datum of 1983.
The ellipsoid used is Geodetic Reference System 80.
The semi-major axis of the ellipsoid used is 6378137.
The flattening of the ellipsoid used is 1/298.257.

This data set depicts most of the major and minor streams, rivers and other waterways in the state of Louisiana. Its recommended scales of use are the range 1:35,000 - 1:1,200,000This data set in geographic coordinates, NAD83 is a reference 'rivers' theme data set for the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's Office (LOSCO).

The rivers, streams, and waterways depicted in this dataset are only those that would be present in the primary source dataset which was Bureau of the Census TIGER/Line files which typically have detail standard for 1:100k maps. This data set includes only those streams from the source data set that had names.
Topological and labeling tests, and attribute statistics were obtained with a quality assurance AML (qa_report.aml). This report is used to expose inconsistencies and problems in the data and its attributes, and to verify correction of those errors when corrections are possible.
