List of Assignments and Their Point Values Each student will complete ten evaluated assignments yielding a minimum of5,000 written words and a maximum of 1,000 grade points: Assignment Grade Points 1. Draft of Research Topic Proposal 10 points (200 words minimum) 2. Revised Research Topic Proposal 20 points (250 words minimum) 3. In-Class Oral Report on a Chosen Research Web Site 30 points (5 to 10 minutes) 4. Three-Page Research Web Site Review 50 points (650 words minimum) 5. Two-Page Research Paper Outline 60 points (400 words minimum) 6. Draft of Research Paper 180 points (2,000 words minimum) 7. Revised Research Paper 250 points (2,500 words minimum) 8. Case Analysis Related to the Research Topic 100 points (1,200 words minimum) 9. Five Online Quizzes 200 points (History and Nature of Computer Ethics, ProfessionalResponsibility plus 3 student-chosen areas) 10. Class Participation (including online WebCT discussions) 100 points Total 1,000 points The course is part of the University’s “writing-cross-the-curriculum” program. Students must complete at least 5,000 words of critical writing, approximately halfof which is revised to take account of comments and suggestions from theinstructor. Grades for written assignments are based upon the computer ethics content, as well as the quality of the writing.
